J AND A RIDING STABLES AND BREEDING FARM
"Nothing but the best"

Training is $550 a month and includes feed, stall, and 30 days of riding.  We ride a minimum of 1 hour per day and many times, since we trail ride over night, it turns out to be about 20 hours of extra riding some weekends.  We use nothing but natural horsemanship methods, no abusive equipment or gadgets to get the job done.  We use a combination of John Lyons, Clinton Anderson, Pat Parelli, and Chris Cox's methods.  We do our best to desensitize the horses to everything we can possibly think of while they are here.  Many trainers out there charge more and it turns out to be an expensive boarding for a month - we know, because we end up with several of them that were not trained to begin with.  This price does not include riding lessons for the owner - that cost is $20 per hour for instruction and we are happy to work with you and your horse.

Learning to deal with water

I have been through several clinics and have my Level 1 with Parelli and Level 1 & 2 with Clinton Anderson.  I went through a personal clinic with Shana (Clinton's apprentice) in March of 2009.  My education is ungoing with clinics, dvds and personal lessons with the best.  I do need at least 3 months notice for any new horses through the winter months.  Spring and summer openings fill up fast, so please book in advance.  References are available upon request.

The way horses should be trained!

Lydia (6) practicing to show "Saddleseat"

One of our best students and trainers is our own daughter, Lydia.  She has been riding since she could walk and completely trained her first horse when she was seven, taking it to Grand Champion at the shows in jumping and huntseat.  She has been through a private clinic with Clinton Anderson with one of her current mares, Ash, who also is showing great promise.  Lydia is now working with Joey MacRae of MacRae Training center in cutting and reining.  Watch for her at the IBHA World Show next year!!

We do a lot of training on trail rides away from home. If they are here for training during December, they are put through two or three Christmas parades.  All of the overnight trailrides always have two or three "training" horses with us. I take some of my advanced students to put hours on them. It is important to realize that the training doesn't stop at the end of 30, 60, or 90 days.  We are willing to work with you to continue using the type of methods we use to keep your horse respectful and safe.
